Regal Jumper from Above Whether she was finished with her meal or not, she quickly became more interested in me and discarded it. Jumping spiders are so curious! In this image, she is on the side of the ladder I'd used to climb up and take a peek at her on the Moon Flower vine. She wandered fearlessly around the various surfaces of the ladder. Regal Jumper on the Edge A perpetually sad jumping spider threatens to do as her name implies. I found this Regal Jumping Spider ( Phidippus otiosus) on a tall Moon Flower vine in North Carolina. She was completely non aggressive and quite agreeable to a photo shoot. She is pictured here on a painters' ladder. :) Given the strong resemblence of her markings to a very sad face and her proximity to the edge, she seems to be saying
