Regal Jumper from Above Whether she was finished with her meal or not, she quickly became more interested in me and discarded it. Jumping spiders are so curious! In this image, she is on the side of the ladder I'd used to climb up and take a peek at her on the Moon Flower vine. She wandered fearlessly around the various surfaces of the ladder. Here you can see her top markings.

Regal Jumper with Prey Back in October, I found this darling quite high up on a moon flower vine. I had to go to the shed for a ladder to get a better view. She is a young Regal Jumping Spider (or Phidippus otiosus for you technical types).

Regal Jumper on the Edge A perpetually sad jumping spider threatens to do as her name implies. I found this Regal Jumping Spider ( Phidippus otiosus) on a tall Moon Flower vine in North Carolina. She was completely non aggressive and quite agreeable to a photo shoot. She is pictured here on a painters' ladder. :) Given the strong resemblence of her markings to a very sad face and her proximity to the edge, she seems to be saying

Back Home on Her Moon Flower Vine After our short visit, I returned this lovely Regal Jumping Spider to her vine.

What large fangs you have! Here you can quite clearly see this young female Regal Jumping Spider's bloody fangs! Such a sweet little killing machine. lol
